Lepto Alert

Leptospirosis (a water-borne bacteria that if ingested can cause kidney failure and liver disease) is on the rise!  Nine confirmed cases have been diagnosed in Sonoma County during the month of February 2015.

Recommendations:

1.   Be sure your pet is current on their annual leptospirosis vaccination

2.  Keep your pet away from water sources that could possibly be contaminated by wild animal urine.

3.  This disease hits hard and fast, so if your pet is acting “off”, don’t wait to have them examined by one of our doctors.

4.  Be aware that this disease can be transmitted to you.  If your pet is acting “off” begin to wash your hands often after petting them.
