At home he has a Doberman “Halle” and two cats “Fubar” (which stands for “fractured up beyond all recognition”) and “Al” a loveable grey. Dr. Sloan is married to Dr. Piper. DR. KAREN BLOUNT, DVM

Prior to joining Windsor Animal Hospital, Dr. Blount practiced at Mid Peninsula Animal Hospital in Menlo Park, since 1999. Her special interests include veterinary dentistry, surgery and the treatment of exotic pets, such as rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and hamsters. Dr. Blount previously worked as a geologist on the east coast. Her family consists of her partner, Renee, who is a professional musician and graphic designer, their two dogs and two cats. Her chihuahua Jack was a rescue, and her terrier-mix Marley was dumped at Mid Pen as an 8-week old blind puppy with a broken leg–Dr. Blount just had to keep her! Other interests include playing classical piano, growing orchids, hiking, biking, and skiing.

Dr. Paula DeCosta, DVM

Dr. DeCosta obtained her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1991 from UC Davis. Dr. DeCosta owned a veterinary practice in the East Bay and practiced there for 26 years. In early 2019, Dr. DeCosta decided it was time for a change; she sold her practice and her home and moved to Windsor, along with her husband and her kitty, Nibbles. Dr. DeCosta comes to us as a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, with training in traditional Chinese veterinary medicine. In her time off, Dr. DeCosta enjoys volleyball, basketball, hiking and jet skiing.

Dr. Joe Graff, DVM

Dr. Graff (left) grew up in Santa Rosa, where he attended Piner High and the Santa Rosa Junior College. He majored in biochemistry before obtaining his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis.

Dr Graff was a charter member of the California Veterinary Medical Association's "Human/Companion Animal Bond Committee", which sought to promote compassion and understanding with both owners and their pets.

After 25 years in emergency medicine in LA and SF, Dr Graff joined Windsor Animal Hospital in 2014. He is very glad to be back in Sonoma County, where he lives with his dogs and his family.
